In the fishing world, a good gear is important, so today will introduce 3 new gears.
We sift through all the new gear in the fishing world to introduce you to product upgrades, new gear and what’s likely to be the next hot thing. This month we bring you the new heavy-duty Husky Magnum from Rapala, the newly redesigned Daiwa BG line of spinning reels and Old Town Kayak’s new hands-free Predator PDL kayak.
Rapala’s new Husky Magnum lures feature a translucent heavy-duty plastic body, an internal scale pattern, flash foil, a distinct high-frequency rattle and a slow rise on the pause that combine to create attraction like no other coastal trolling bait. The Husky Magnum 15 can be trolled as deep as 15 feet and measures 5½ inches. The 6¼-inch Husky Magnum 25 can be trolled as deep as 25 feet and is ideal for trolling up stripers and bluefish.
Still Gold (and Black)
The Daiwa BG series of reels has been a favorite among anglers for 35 years. This classic reel has been redesigned for 2016, improving the durability of the frame and side plate, and increasing the internal gearing size for more power and extended gear life. The new BG will be available in a wide range of sizes and gear ratios to fit almost every technique in saltwater or fresh.
Pedal and Paddle
Old Town Kayaks now offers hands-free operation with the new Predator PDL. This 13-foot, 2-inch kayak features the Old Town PDL Drive, a pedal-driven, weed-less propeller. The PDL drive allows both forward and reverse propulsion, and the docking station allows the kayaker to go quickly from pedaling to parked. The Predator PDL also features a new Element seat that is adjustable and removable, an oversized tank well, accessory plates for mounting electronics, and a transducer scupper.
